The Social Development Bank achieved a new international milestone by winning the Best Financier for Women Entrepreneurs award at the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance (G20 YEA) Summit, held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from September 18-24, 2025.
The summit brought together over 500 entrepreneurs from around the world, along with representatives from governments, major corporations, and international organizations.
Mr. Abdullah bin Saad Al-Ruwaiss, Executive Vice President of the Business Sector, accepted the award on behalf of the bank during a ceremony that highlighted the Social Development Bank's efforts in financing and empowering women entrepreneurs and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Through this journey, the bank has solidified its role in promoting women's participation in the national economy by providing accessible financing products and non-financial services, including training and mentorship. This has resulted in inspiring success stories that have helped transform startups into established businesses.
This award underscores the Social Development Bank's prominent position and pioneering role in empowering Saudi women and enhancing the Kingdom's presence on the global stage. Its commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs is demonstrated through its contribution to developing small businesses, increasing job opportunities for women, and boosting women's participation in the labor market. Women accounted for 56% of the bank's financing for small and emerging enterprises. The bank offers a range of financing programs specifically designed to support the establishment and development of projects, including financing for productive families, financing for entrepreneurs, and a franchise program.
This win continues the bank's leading role in development and its record of winning prestigious awards both locally and internationally. Last year, it also received the award for Best Financing Institution for Women Entrepreneurs in the Middle East and North Africa region at the Global Forum on Financing for Small and Medium Enterprises held in Brazil on the sidelines of the G20 meetings. The G20 Young
Entrepreneurs' Alliance Summit (G20 YEA Summit) is held annually on the sidelines of the G20 meetings as an international platform for formulating policies that support youth entrepreneurship, exchanging experiences, exploring partnerships, and showcasing impactful entrepreneurial experiences.
